Invisalign Q&A

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an orthodontics treatment that shifts your teeth into a more desirable position without metal wires or brackets. Invisalign consists of clear plastic aligners that fit over the top of your teeth to improve your bite and give you a smile you desire.

What are the benefits of Invisalign?

Some of the many benefits you can expect by choosing Invisalign clear aligners available at Jamison Innovative Dentistry include:

  • Straighter teeth
  • Easier teeth cleaning
  • No metal brackets
  • No metal wires
  • Clear, removable aligners
  • Maximum comfortability

The main benefits of Invisalign clear aligners are straight teeth, a beautiful smile, and self-confidence without pain or invasive treatments.

Is Invisalign right for me?

The Jamison Innovative Dentistry team lets you know if you’re a candidate for Invisalign treatment after discussing your desired outcome and reviewing your oral health history with you. They examine your teeth and gums and take dental X-rays if needed before personalizing a cosmetic dental treatment that’s best for you.

What happens during Invisalign treatment?

During the first step of Invisalign treatment at Jamison Innovative Dentistry, your specialist digitally scans your teeth to develop custom-fitted aligners that fit comfortably over your natural teeth. When the aligners are ready, you should wear them for 20-22 hours every day. Take the aligners out of your mouth to brush and floss your teeth, and while you’re eating.

After a week or two as directed by your dentist, switch to the next set of aligners in your series until you complete treatment. On average, Invisalgin treatment lasts 12-18 months. but every patient is different.

How can I take good care of my aligners?

To take good care of your aligners, use an Invisalign cleaning system provided by your dentist, or brush the aligners with a toothbrush and toothpaste. Rinse them in warm water, but avoid using hot water, as doing so can warp the plastic. Call the Jamison Innovative Dentistry office if your aligners get damaged or lost, and see your dentist for routine checkups.
